Thesprot\u00ebt ishin nj\u00eb nga 14 fiset epirote t\u00eb p\u00ebrmendura n\u00eb shek. IV p. e. r. nga Theopompi. Bashk\u00eb me kaon\u00ebt e mollos\u00ebt, ata p\u00ebrfaq\u00ebsonin fiset m\u00eb t\u00eb m\u00ebdha e m\u00eb t\u00eb fuqishme t\u00eb Epirit. Historian\u00eb t\u00eb antikitetit, si Tuqididi, Straboni, Polibi e t\u00eb tjer\u00eb, i dallojn\u00eb thesprot\u00ebt bashk\u00eb me fiset e tjera epirote si fise \u201cbarbare\u201d, d.m.th. jo-greke. Tuqididi konsideron si zon\u00eb tranzitore q\u00eb ndante bot\u00ebn helene nga ajo \u201cbarbare\u201d gjirin e Ambrakis\u00eb. Vendi i amfilok\u00ebve, n\u00eb skajin jugor t\u00eb Gjirit t\u00eb Ambrakis\u00eb, p\u00ebrfaq\u00ebsonte n\u00eb koh\u00ebn e tij nj\u00eb zon\u00eb kalimtare nga bota \u201cbarbare\u201d n\u00eb bot\u00ebn greke. N\u00eb fakt, Tuqididi flet si p\u00ebr amfilok\u00eb \u201cbarbar\u00eb\u201d, ashtu edhe p\u00ebr amfilok\u00eb t\u00eb tjer\u00eb t\u00eb helenizuar. T\u00eb till\u00eb ai konsideronte banor\u00ebt e Argosit, t\u00eb cil\u00ebt tashm\u00eb flisnin gjuh\u00ebn greke, q\u00eb e kishin m\u00ebsuar nga kolon\u00ebt helen\u00eb t\u00eb qytetit fqinj t\u00eb Ambrakis\u00eb. G\u00ebrmimet arkeologjike provojn\u00eb se kultura materiale e zbuluar n\u00eb Epir n\u00eb periudh\u00ebn parahistorike dhe historike, lidhet qart\u00ebsisht me nj\u00eb popullsi jo-greke (N. G. L. Hammond).<\/p>\n<p>Gjetjet arkeologjike t\u00eb kryera n\u00eb rrethet e Sarand\u00ebs e t\u00eb Gjirokastr\u00ebs, n\u00eb tumat (kod\u00ebrvarret) e Dropullit t\u00eb Sip\u00ebrm, n\u00eb Vodhin\u00eb, Bodrisht\u00eb, Kakavi, n\u00eb Mashkullor\u00eb, n\u00eb kalan\u00eb e Rip\u00ebsit e sidomos n\u00eb qytetin e vjet\u00ebr t\u00eb Jerm\u00ebs flasin p\u00ebr nj\u00eb unitet kulturor t\u00eb k\u00ebsaj treve me trevat n\u00eb veri t\u00eb saj. En\u00ebt e balt\u00ebs dhe n\u00eb p\u00ebrgjith\u00ebsi inventari arkeologjik i atysh\u00ebm ka ngjashm\u00ebri t\u00eb madhe dhe i p\u00ebrket t\u00eb nj\u00ebjt\u00ebs kultur\u00eb ilire si ajo e gjetur n\u00eb Vajz\u00eb t\u00eb Vlor\u00ebs e n\u00eb Mat (S. Islami, Dh. Budina). Nga ana e tyre, t\u00eb dh\u00ebnat gjuh\u00ebsore, edhe pse t\u00eb kufizuara, provojn\u00eb se fiset e Epirit t\u00eb quajtura nga autor\u00ebt antik\u00eb si \u201cbarbare\u201d, i p\u00ebrkisnin etnosit ilir (J. E. Thunmann, F. Bopp, P. Kretschmer, E. \u00c7abej). Kjo vlen me siguri p\u00ebr thesprot\u00ebt, q\u00eb banonin territoret e \u00c7am\u00ebris\u00eb moderne (G. \u00cb. Leibniz, Th. Mommsen, G. Von Hahn).<\/p>\n<p>Si\u00e7 u theksua m\u00eb sip\u00ebr, Gjiri i Ambrakis\u00eb sh\u00ebnonte fundin e habitatit ilir dhe fillimin e \u201cGreqis\u00eb\u201d. N\u00eb shek. IV p. e. s., Pseudo-Skylaksi do t\u00eb pohonte se \u201cpas Molosis\u00eb vjen Ambrakia, qytet helen\u2026K\u00ebndej fillon Hellada q\u00eb vazhdon pa nd\u00ebrprerje gjer tek lumi Peneus\u201d. Po n\u00eb shek. IV p. e. r., Efori i Cymos pohonte se \u201cAkarnania sh\u00ebnon fillimin e Greqis\u00eb, pasi nga krahu i per\u00ebndimit \u00ebsht\u00eb ajo q\u00eb takon e para me fiset epirote\u201d. Epirot\u00ebt nuk mor\u00ebn pjes\u00eb n\u00eb luftrat e grek\u00ebve me persian\u00ebt n\u00eb shek. V p.e.r. dhe asnj\u00eb prej fiseve t\u00eb tyre nuk u ftua n\u00eb takimin panhelenik t\u00eb organizuar nga Perikliu, p\u00ebrve\u00e7 qytetit t\u00eb Ambrakis\u00eb, q\u00eb ishte koloni greke. Megjithat\u00eb, nga Greqia e mir\u00ebfillt\u00eb (Graecia proprie dicta) dhe sidomos nga kolonit\u00eb helene, si Ambrakia, vihet re nj\u00eb ndikim i madh i kultur\u00ebs helene, sidomos n\u00eb elitat e shoq\u00ebris\u00eb epirote. Nj\u00eb burim i von\u00eb i shek. I, Plutarku, flet p\u00ebr interesimin e madh t\u00eb Taryp\u00ebs, kreut t\u00eb fisit t\u00eb Molos\u00ebve n\u00eb shek. IV p.e.r, p\u00ebr shkrimin, kultur\u00ebn dhe ligjet greke.<\/p>\n<p>Shekujt e fundit t\u00eb epok\u00ebs klasike, ata t\u00eb antikitetit t\u00eb von\u00eb dhe t\u00eb mesjet\u00ebs s\u00eb hershme u karakterizuan edhe n\u00eb Epir nga ngjarje dramatike, si\u00e7 ishin pushtimi romak dhe dyndjet barbare. Megjithat\u00eb, bilanci etno-gjeografik q\u00eb b\u00ebnin autor\u00ebt e shek. XII-XV nuk ndryshonte nga ai i autor\u00ebve antik\u00eb. Gjiri i Ambrakis\u00eb, n\u00eb jug, dhe mal\u00ebsit\u00eb e Pindit n\u00eb lindje ndanin, sipas tyre, bot\u00ebn greke nga bota ilire apo, si\u00e7 quhet gjithnj\u00eb e m\u00eb shpesh tani, bota shqiptare. K\u00ebshtu, sipas historianit bizantin, Georgios Akropolites, \u201cmalet Pirine ndajn\u00eb Epirin e Vjet\u00ebr e t\u00eb Riun nga toka greke\u201d. Me \u201cmalet Pirine\u201d Akropoliti kupton pik\u00ebrisht malet e Pindit. Rreth nj\u00eb shekull m\u00eb von\u00eb, historiani tjet\u00ebr bizantin, Joan Kantakuzeni, flet p\u00ebr fiset e Malakas\u00ebve, Buave dhe Mazarak\u00ebve, q\u00eb ai i quan qartazi si \u201cshqiptare\u201d (Albano\u00ec). K\u00ebto fise ai i vendos n\u00eb mal\u00ebsit\u00eb jugore t\u00eb Epirit dhe i karakterizon me fjal\u00ebn \u201cabasileutoi\u201d (q\u00eb nuk njohin autoritetin mbret\u00ebror).<\/p>\n<p>Interesant \u00ebsht\u00eb, q\u00eb historiani grek i antikitetit, Tuqididi, i kishte karakterizuar me t\u00eb nj\u00ebjt\u00ebn fjal\u00eb \u201cbarbar\u00ebt Kaon\u00eb e Thesprot\u00eb\u201d (barbaroi d\u00e8 Kaones abasileutoi\u2026kai Thesprotoi abaseutoi). Nj\u00eb lidhje shum\u00eb interesante t\u00eb historis\u00eb etnike t\u00eb k\u00ebtyre trevave n\u00eb periudh\u00ebn antike dhe n\u00eb at\u00eb mesjetare e b\u00ebn edhe nj\u00eb dokument bizantin i fillimit t\u00eb shek. XV, i ashtuquajturi \u201cPanegjirik i Manuel Paleologut\u201d. Ky, pasi numuron emrat e fiseve ilire q\u00eb e banonin Epirin n\u00eb koh\u00ebt antike (etol\u00ebt, akarnan\u00ebt, amfilok\u00ebt, kasiop\u00ebt, dolop\u00ebt, ambrakiot\u00ebt, ataman\u00ebt, thesprot\u00ebt, molos\u00ebt e kaon\u00ebt), shton se \u201cedhe tani, i gjith\u00eb ai vend banohet nga shqiptar\u00ebt, q\u00eb jan\u00eb far\u00eb ilire\u201d (Albanoi illyrikon genos).<\/p>\n<p>N\u00eb koh\u00eb t\u00eb mesme, emri Thesproti u la n\u00eb harres\u00eb, si shum\u00eb emra t\u00eb tjer\u00eb t\u00eb periudh\u00ebs antike. Por edhe emri \u00c7am\u00ebri do t\u00eb shfaqet relativisht von\u00eb, n\u00eb periudh\u00ebn e sundimit osman (shek. XVIII). Deri at\u00ebher\u00eb, kjo trev\u00eb jugore e Epirit antik, u thirr me emra ndrysh\u00ebm. Ne njohim vet\u00ebm emra t\u00eb p\u00ebrdorimit zyrtar, nd\u00ebrkoh\u00eb q\u00eb emrat e p\u00ebrdorimit popullor nuk arrijn\u00eb t\u00eb shfaqen n\u00eb dokumentacionin e koh\u00ebs. Duke filluar nga shek. VIII e deri n\u00eb shek. XII, Thesprotia antike (\u00c7am\u00ebria moderne) ishte pjes\u00eb e provinc\u00ebs bizantine, t\u00eb quajtur Thema Nikopolis. Pas shek. XII e deri n\u00eb shek. XV ajo u p\u00ebrfshi n\u00eb kufijt\u00eb e Despotatit t\u00eb Art\u00ebs. Megjithat\u00eb, brenda them\u00ebs s\u00eb Nikopolit e Despotatit t\u00eb Epirit, midis shek. VIII-XV, territoret e \u00c7am\u00ebris\u00eb s\u00eb sotme p\u00ebrmenden me nj\u00eb em\u00ebr t\u00eb vetin, Vagenetia.<\/p>\n<p>N\u00eb kuadrin e them\u00ebs s\u00eb Nikopolit, Vagnetia p\u00ebrb\u00ebnte nj\u00eb n\u00ebnndarje administrative t\u00eb rangut t\u00eb katepanikut ose kartularatit (catepanikium, chartularato de Vagenetia). N\u00eb koh\u00ebn e Despotatit t\u00eb Art\u00ebs, pas vitit 1204, Vagnetia u ngrit n\u00eb rangun e nj\u00eb theme, dhe drejtohej nga nj\u00eb duk\u00eb. Emri Vageneti mbijetoi deri n\u00eb shek. XV. Por qysh nga fundi shek. XIV, nga Venecian\u00ebt, zot\u00ebr t\u00eb Korfuzit, territoret e Vagenetis\u00eb p\u00ebrball\u00eb quheshin shpesh me emrin e pap\u00ebrcaktuar terra ferma (kontinent). N\u00eb ndonj\u00eb rast t\u00eb rrall\u00eb, autoritetet veneciane t\u00eb Korfuzit e quajn\u00eb Vagenetin\u00eb me emrin q\u00eb p\u00ebrdornin banor\u00ebt grek\u00eb t\u00eb Korfuzit, \u201cstere\u201d (viti 1414: super ipsam stariam per oppositum dicte nostre insule Corphoy).<\/p>\n<p>M\u00eb 1395, udh\u00ebtari venecian Nicolao Martoni e p\u00ebrdor fjal\u00ebn terra ferma p\u00ebr viset n\u00eb fjal\u00eb, por duke sqaruar se ato p\u00ebrfshiheshin n\u00eb kufijt\u00eb e Shqip\u00ebris\u00eb (terra firma, que est Albania). Edhe m\u00eb von\u00eb, m\u00eb 1436, nj\u00eb dokument venecian e quan Vagenetin\u00eb \u201cprovinc\u00eb e Shqip\u00ebris\u00eb p\u00ebrball\u00eb Korfuzit\u201d (provinciam Albanie oppositam Corfoy). Nj\u00eb portulane greke e shek. XVI e quan Shqip\u00ebri (Arbania) edhe pjes\u00ebn e kontinentit etolo-akarnan, n\u00eb jug t\u00eb Gjirit t\u00eb Art\u00ebs, deri n\u00eb derdhjen e lumit Akeloos, pran\u00eb Gjirit t\u00eb Patrasit. Por, edhe duke pranuar se Etolo-Akarnania ishte nj\u00eb territor ku nuk mungonin ngulime shqiptare t\u00eb mbishtresuara n\u00eb koh\u00eb t\u00eb ndryshme, shtrirja e termit \u201cAlbania\u201d deri n\u00eb dalje t\u00eb Gjirit t\u00eb Patrasit, nuk duket t\u00eb jet\u00eb aq shum\u00eb rezultat i nj\u00eb \u201cshtrirjeje etnike\u201d, se sa i nj\u00eb shtrirjeje politike p\u00ebrtej Epirit historik nga ana e sundimtar\u00ebve shqiptar\u00eb Shpata, n\u00eb shek. XIV-XV.<\/p>\n<p>Pas shek. XIV, p\u00ebrve\u00e7se me emrin \u201ckontinent\u201d (terra ferma) apo me emrin gjithp\u00ebrfshir\u00ebs \u201cAlbania\u201d, \u00c7am\u00ebria p\u00ebrfshihej ndonj\u00ebher\u00eb nga t\u00eb huajt edhe n\u00ebn emrin arkaizant \u201cEpir\u201d. Por ky em\u00ebr, t\u00eb shumt\u00ebn e her\u00ebs n\u00ebnkuptonte krejt Shqip\u00ebrin\u00eb, dhe jo vet\u00ebm Epirin historik. N\u00eb 1579, Carlier de Pinon shkruante se \u201cArb\u00ebria n\u00eb koh\u00ebt e vjetra thirrej Epir\u201d (Albanie, qu\u2019anciennement l\u2019on nommoit Epyrus). Pak m\u00eb von\u00eb, kartografi hollandez, J. Laurenberg, do t\u00eb sqaronte: Epirus hodie in vulgo Albania (Epiri, sot n\u00eb gjuh\u00ebn popullore thirret Arb\u00ebri). Po ashtu, n\u00eb 1578 Zuan Contarini, Proveditor e Kapiten i Korfuzit, shkruante se Korfuzi nga e djathta kufizonte me krahin\u00ebn e Otrantos, kurse nga e majta me Shqip\u00ebrin\u00eb (e dalla sinistra con l\u2019Albania).<\/p>\n<p>Nga shek. XVII e deri n\u00eb shek. XIX, tek t\u00eb huajt \u00c7am\u00ebria shfaqet edhe me emrin specifik \u201cShqip\u00ebri e Poshtme\u201d (Lo\u00eber Albania, Basse Albanie, Bassa Albania, Kato Allvania). \u201cShqip\u00ebri e Poshtme\u201d e quan \u00c7am\u00ebrin\u00eb edhe autori shqiptar i shek. XVII, Pjet\u00ebr Bogdani, nga Shqip\u00ebria e Veriut, dhe po ashtu arb\u00ebreshi i Italis\u00eb, Gavril Dara (shek. XIX). N\u00eb m\u00ebnyr\u00eb sporadike ky em\u00ebr vazhdon t\u00eb p\u00ebrdoret deri n\u00eb vitet e para t\u00eb shek. XX. Por, qysh prej shek. XVIII, n\u00eb gjuh\u00ebn popullore dhe dora-dor\u00ebs edhe n\u00eb at\u00eb t\u00eb kultivuar, p\u00ebr k\u00ebt\u00eb trev\u00eb jugore t\u00eb Epirit historik kishte filluar t\u00eb mbizot\u00ebronte p\u00ebrdorimi i emrit \u00c7am\u00ebri (Ciamuri\u00e0, Chamouri, Tschamuria).<\/p>\n<p>Deri n\u00eb shek. XIII, burimet e pakta historike nuk japin p\u00ebrcaktimin etnik t\u00eb banor\u00ebve t\u00eb Shqip\u00ebris\u00eb e Poshtme. Dijm\u00eb q\u00eb metropoliti i Naupaktit n\u00eb fillim t\u00eb shek. XIII, Joan Apokauku, quhej \u201cilir\u201d n\u00eb nj\u00eb let\u00ebr q\u00eb i d\u00ebrgonte Georg Bardhani (Bardanes), prelat epirot e mik i tij. N\u00eb vitin 1210, n\u00eb marr\u00ebveshjen e despotit t\u00eb Art\u00ebs, Mihal I Engj\u00ebll me dogjin e Venedikut, Pietro Zian, b\u00ebhet fjal\u00eb p\u00ebr nj\u00eb bashk\u00ebpunim t\u00eb tyre kund\u00ebr korfiot\u00ebve dhe shqiptar\u00ebve (Albanenses). Pask\u00ebtaj, shqiptar\u00ebt p\u00ebrmenden gjithnj\u00eb e m\u00eb shpesh si banor\u00eb t\u00eb Vagenetis\u00eb e t\u00eb gjith\u00eb Epirit. K\u00ebt\u00eb e b\u00ebjn\u00eb n\u00eb m\u00ebnyr\u00eb konstante dokumentat veneciane t\u00eb shek. XIV-XVIII dhe po ashtu burimet spanjolle, napoletane, franceze e papale.<\/p>\n<p>Shqiptar\u00ebt jan\u00eb protagonist\u00eb t\u00eb historis\u00eb s\u00eb k\u00ebsaj treve edhe n\u00eb vepr\u00ebn historike t\u00eb Joan Kantakuzenit (shek. XIV) dhe n\u00eb kronikat e vona bizantine, \u201cKronika e Janin\u00ebs\u201d dhe \u201cKronika e Tocco-ve\u201d, q\u00eb t\u00eb dyja t\u00eb fillimit t\u00eb shek. XV. \u201cKronika e Tocco-ve\u201d, kur p\u00ebrshkruan udh\u00ebtimin e Carlo Tocco-s m\u00eb 1411 nga brigjet e Parg\u00ebs deri n\u00eb Janin\u00eb n\u00ebp\u00ebrmjet Mazarakut e Paramithis\u00eb, thot\u00eb se n\u00eb t\u00eb gjith\u00eb k\u00ebt\u00eb itinerar atij iu desh t\u00eb p\u00ebrshkoj\u00eb \u201cvendet shqiptare\u201d (ta Allvana). N\u00eb koh\u00ebn e Alket\u00ebs, djalit t\u00eb Taryp\u00ebs e sidomos t\u00eb pasardh\u00ebsit t\u00eb tij, Aleksandrit, Thesprot\u00ebt dhe gjithashtu Kaon\u00ebt ran\u00eb p\u00ebrfundimisht n\u00ebn pushtetin e Molos\u00ebve, duke i shtrir\u00eb zot\u00ebrimet e tyre deri n\u00eb bregdet. N\u00eb forcimin e dinastis\u00eb molose luajti rol edhe aleanca me Filipin II t\u00eb Maqedonis\u00eb, aleanc\u00eb e forcuar nga martesa e k\u00ebtij t\u00eb fundit me vajz\u00ebn e Aleksandrit, Olympian.
