Perspektiva ime, s\u00eb bashku me shumic\u00ebn e miqve dhe mb\u00ebshtet\u00ebsve t\u00eb Lidhjes Qytetare Shqiptaro-Amerikane, nuk ka ndryshuar. Un\u00eb besoj q\u00eb Kosova duhet t\u00eb vazhdoj\u00eb t\u00eb mbaj\u00eb kursin e vet derisa Serbia t\u00eb njoh\u00eb pavar\u00ebsin\u00eb e Kosov\u00ebs. N\u00ebse paqja, stabiliteti dhe rritja e Evrop\u00ebs Juglindore do t\u00eb b\u00ebhen realitet, at\u00ebher\u00eb t\u00eb dy vendet duhet t\u00eb vijn\u00eb n\u00eb tryez\u00ebn e bisedimeve me kushte t\u00eb barabarta.<\/strong><\/p>\n

N\u00eb kund\u00ebrshtim me deklaratat e disa lider\u00ebve politik\u00eb n\u00eb PDK dhe LDK, marrja e k\u00ebtij q\u00ebndrimi nuk e k\u00ebrc\u00ebnon partneritetin historik midis shqiptar\u00ebve dhe Shteteve t\u00eb Bashkuara. Dashuria e popullit shqiptar p\u00ebr Shtetet e Bashkuara \u00ebsht\u00eb e betonuar p\u00ebrgjithmon\u00eb n\u00eb veprimet e Presidentit Woodrow Wilson, i cili n\u00eb fund t\u00eb Luft\u00ebs s\u00eb Par\u00eb Bot\u00ebrore k\u00ebmb\u00ebnguli q\u00eb t\u00eb ashtuquajturat Fuqit\u00eb e M\u00ebdha: Britania, Franca, Italia, Gjermania, Austro-Hungaria, dhe Rusia \u2014 t\u00eb njohin Shqip\u00ebrin\u00eb, sepse ajo ishte me nj\u00eb nga popujt m\u00eb t\u00eb vjet\u00ebr t\u00eb Evrop\u00ebs.<\/p>\n

Bota gjithashtu e din se kur Sllobodan Millosheviqi filloi fushat\u00ebn e tij gjenocidale kund\u00ebr shqiptar\u00ebve kosovar\u00eb (pasi q\u00eb vrau nj\u00eb gjysm\u00eb milioni boshnjak\u00eb), qeveria e SHBA – dhe n\u00eb nj\u00eb mas\u00eb t\u00eb madhe p\u00ebr shkak t\u00eb viteve t\u00eb pun\u00ebs sime, Joe DioGuardit, dhe t\u00eb Lidhjes Qytetare Shqiptaro-Amerikane – e solli Millosheviqin deri te ndalja dhe p\u00ebrfundimisht te gjykimi n\u00eb Tribunalin e Krimeve t\u00eb Luft\u00ebs n\u00eb Hag\u00eb. Por tani jemi n\u00eb nj\u00eb koh\u00eb tjet\u00ebr t\u00eb historis\u00eb s\u00eb SHBA. \u00cbsht\u00eb v\u00ebrtetuar mir\u00eb nga mediat kryesore t\u00eb SHBA se Presidenti Donald Trump po p\u00ebrkulet ndaj makinacioneve t\u00eb Rusis\u00eb dhe Serbis\u00eb dhe po v\u00eb n\u00eb rrezik sigurin\u00eb e Evrop\u00ebs<\/strong>. Qeveria e Kosov\u00ebs, n\u00eb an\u00ebn tjet\u00ebr, nuk mund t\u00eb lejoj\u00eb q\u00eb t\u00eb p\u00ebrkulet ndaj insistimit t\u00eb administrat\u00ebs s\u00eb Trumpit, q\u00eb t\u00eb kthehet n\u00eb negociata me nj\u00eb udh\u00ebheqje serbe, q\u00eb refuzon ta njoh\u00eb Kosov\u00ebn si nj\u00eb shtet sovran dhe q\u00eb po punon shum\u00eb p\u00ebr t\u00eb sjell\u00eb n\u00ebn kontrollin e vet veriun e Kosov\u00ebs dhe komunat me serb\u00eb t\u00eb Kosov\u00ebs n\u00eb jug t\u00eb Kosov\u00ebs.<\/p>\n

Jemi me fat q\u00eb Shaun Byrnes<\/strong>, nj\u00eb diplomat amerikan i pensionuar q\u00eb sh\u00ebrbeu si Shef i Misionit V\u00ebzhgues Diplomatik t\u00eb ShBA n\u00eb Kosov\u00eb prej vitit 1998-1999 ka botuar nj\u00eb artikull shum\u00eb t\u00eb r\u00ebnd\u00ebsish\u00ebm n\u00eb www.peacefare.net<\/a>, me titull “Nj\u00eb marr\u00ebveshje e keqe<\/em><\/a>” (A bad deal<\/strong>). Q\u00ebllimi i Tha\u00e7it \u00ebsht\u00eb q\u00eb pastaj t\u00eb krijoj\u00eb nj\u00eb qeveri t\u00eb re t\u00eb koalicionit t\u00eb p\u00ebrb\u00ebr\u00eb nga LDK, partneri aktual i koalicionit t\u00eb Kurtit dhe nga PDK, partia q\u00eb e themeloi Tha\u00e7i.<\/p>\n

\u201cNd\u00ebrhyrja e Trumpit p\u00ebr t\u00eb marr\u00eb p\u00ebrsip\u00ebr dialogun i ka dh\u00ebn\u00eb mund\u00ebsin\u00eb Tha\u00e7it ta b\u00ebj\u00eb k\u00ebt\u00eb. “M\u00eb shum\u00eb me r\u00ebnd\u00ebsi \u00ebsht\u00eb se ne duhet t’i p\u00ebrkujtojm\u00eb udh\u00ebheq\u00ebsit e Kosov\u00ebs q\u00eb SHBA \u00ebsht\u00eb dhe do t\u00eb mbetet nj\u00eb mik i fort\u00eb dhe kjo nuk do t\u00eb ndryshoj\u00eb pavar\u00ebsisht se \u00e7far\u00eb mund t\u00eb k\u00ebrc\u00ebnojn\u00eb Trump, O’Brien, Grenell, Pompeo dhe Kushner. Kosova nuk duhet t\u00eb detyrohet t\u00eb pranoj\u00eb nj\u00eb marr\u00ebveshje me pasoja me nj\u00eb Serbi armiq\u00ebsore q\u00eb politikan\u00ebt e saj dhe publiku i saj nuk e kan\u00eb par\u00eb p\u00ebr shkak t\u00eb motiveve vet\u00eb-sh\u00ebrbyese t\u00eb nj\u00eb politikani.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

N\u00eb nj\u00eb deklarat\u00eb publike n\u00eb mars t\u00eb vitit 2012, me titull “Ruaje Republik\u00ebn e Kosov\u00ebs<\/em>“, Lidhja Qytetare Shqiptaro Amerikane v\u00ebrejti se: “Ka nj\u00eb n\u00ebnshtrim pothuajse total t\u00eb klas\u00ebs politike dhe publikut ndaj vullnetit t\u00eb Departamentit t\u00eb Shtetit t\u00eb SHBA dhe t\u00eb p\u00ebrfaq\u00ebsuesve tjer\u00eb per\u00ebndimor\u00eb n\u00eb Prishtin\u00eb. Gjithashtu, besimi se Shtetet e Bashkuara do t\u00eb kujdesen p\u00ebr Kosov\u00ebn, shpesh p\u00ebrdoret si justifikim nga ana e politikan\u00ebve dhe profesionist\u00ebve shqiptar\u00eb, q\u00eb t\u00eb mos punojn\u00eb p\u00ebr t\u00eb zgjidhur problemet e Kosov\u00ebs, dhe kjo duhet t\u00eb ndalet<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

Besimi i rrejsh\u00ebm nga disa politikan\u00eb dhe profesionist\u00eb shqiptar\u00eb se administrata Trump do t\u00eb kujdeset p\u00ebr Kosov\u00ebn \u00ebsht\u00eb ndalur me vendimin e kryeministrit Albin Kurti<\/strong> dhe kryetaren e parlamentit Vjosa Osmani<\/strong>, q\u00eb t\u00eb mos p\u00ebrkulen ndaj k\u00ebrkesave t\u00eb presidenc\u00ebs s\u00eb par\u00eb autoritare n\u00eb historin\u00eb e SHBA, por t\u00eb q\u00ebndrojn\u00eb n\u00eb kursin e vet n\u00eb em\u00ebr t\u00eb Kosov\u00ebs.<\/p>\n

M\u00eb n\u00eb fund, t\u00eb mos harrojm\u00eb mesazhin q\u00eb nj\u00eb mik i fuqish\u00ebm i Kosov\u00ebs dhe tani kandidat p\u00ebr President t\u00eb SHBA, ZP Joe Biden<\/strong>, deklaroi tet\u00ebmb\u00ebdhjet\u00eb vjet m\u00eb par\u00eb \u2014 n\u00eb vitin 2002, n\u00eb 12 vjetorin e pun\u00ebs s\u00eb Lidhjes Qytetare Shqiptaro-Amerikane n\u00eb Hotelin Sheraton n\u00eb Qytetin New York. N\u00eb fjal\u00ebn e tij kryesore, Biden, n\u00eb at\u00eb koh\u00eb udh\u00ebheq\u00ebs i Komitetit t\u00eb Marr\u00ebdh\u00ebnieve me Jasht\u00eb t\u00eb Senatit, tha se:<\/p>\n

“Vet\u00eb-interesi i past\u00ebr i Shteteve t\u00eb Bashkuara q\u00ebndron n\u00eb shekullin XXI duke filluar me nj\u00eb Evrop\u00eb t\u00eb t\u00ebr\u00eb, t\u00eb pandar\u00eb dhe t\u00eb unifikuar<\/em>“, sepse \u00e7do her\u00eb q\u00eb Evropa zhytet n\u00eb kaos, “djemt\u00eb dhe vajzat tona vdesin, ekonomia jon\u00eb dob\u00ebsohet, dhe ne e paguajm\u00eb \u00e7mimin. Nga kultura, historia dhe prirja, ne nuk jemi n\u00eb gjendje t\u00eb ndahemi nga ajo q\u00eb ndodh\u00eb n\u00eb Evrop\u00eb. Fati i shtat\u00eb milion njer\u00ebzve shqiptar\u00eb n\u00eb Ballkan … \u00ebsht\u00eb gjithashtu thelb\u00ebsor p\u00ebr interesin ton\u00eb t\u00eb past\u00ebr. N\u00ebse legjitimiteti etnik i popullit shqiptar nuk njihet dhe mbrohet, t\u00eb gjitha pjes\u00ebt n\u00eb rajon do t\u00eb rr\u00ebzohen, dhe n\u00ebse nuk e stabilizojm\u00eb Ballkanin, ne do t\u00eb paguajm\u00eb shtrenjt\u00eb.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

The United States Will Remain Kosova\u2019s Friend in spite of President Donald Trump<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Last year, on February 14, 2019, as Balkan Affairs Adviser to the Albanian American Civic League, I published \u201cKosova Should Stay the Course\u201d in portals around the world. In it, I stated that, I believe that the United States and Europe have overstepped their boundaries in calling on Kosova to repeal its 100 percent import tax on Serbia. In addition, I stated that it is a contradiction for the United States to claim that it respects Kosova\u2019s sovereignty, while insisting that Kosova suspend the tax.<\/p>\n

I also identified Serbia\u2019s call for a land swap as an attempt to deny Kosova\u2019s right to self-determination and to reopen discussion of Kosova\u2019s status as a sovereign nation\u2014a status that Serbia has worked to undermine ever since Kosova\u2019s independence was recognized by President George W. Bush in 2008 and ever since the Prishtina-Belgrade talks began in 2011.<\/p>\n

My perspective, along with the majority of the friends and supporters of the Albanian American Civic League, has not changed. I believe that Kosova must continue to stay the course until Serbia recognizes Kosova\u2019s independence. If peace, stability, and the growth of Southeast Europe is to become a reality, the two countries must come to the negotiating table on equal terms.<\/p>\n

Contrary to statements from some of the political leaders in PDK and LDK, taking this position does not threaten the historic partnership between Albanians and the United States. The Albanian people\u2019s love for the United States is forever cemented in the actions of President Woodrow Wilson, who at the end of World War I insisted that the then so-called Great Powers\u2014Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Russia\u2014recognize Albania, because it was one of the oldest peoples of Europe.<\/p>\n

The world also knows that when Slobodan Milosevic began his genocidal campaign against Kosovar Albanians (after killing a half million Bosnians), the US government\u2014and to a great extent because of years of work on the part of me, Joe DioGuardi, and the Albanian American Civic League\u2014brought Milosevic to a halt and eventually to trial in The Hague War Crimes Tribunal. In 2008 the United States and many other governments around the world recognized Kosova\u2019s independence.<\/p>\n

But now we are in a different time in US history. It has been well established by US mainstream media that President Donald Trump is bowing to the machinations of Russia and Serbia and putting Europe\u2019s security in peril. The Kosova government cannot afford to bow, in turn, to the Trump administration\u2019s insistence that they return to negotiations with a Serbian leadership that refuses to recognize Kosova as a sovereign state and is working hard to bring northern Kosova and Kosova Serb municipalities in southern Kosova under its control.<\/p>\n

We are fortunate that Shaun Byrnes, a retired US diplomat who served as Chief of the US Diplomatic Observer Mission in Kosova from 1998-1999 has published a very important article in www.peacefare.net, entitled \u201cA Bad Deal.\u201d In it, Byrnes exposes the intense pressure that President Trump, National Security Advisor Robert O\u2019Brien, US Special Envoy for Serbia and Kosovo Richard Grenell, and Trump\u2019s son-in-law Jared Kushner, in collaboration with Kosova President Hashim Thaci, are placing on Prime Minister Albin Kurti to lift the tariffs on Serbia. Byrnes explains why Kosova must not concede.<\/p>\n

I believe that Byrnes\u2019 conclusions in his March 13, 2020, article are important for everyone who cares about the future of the Albanian people to read:<\/p>\n

\u201cTrump is looking for a quick deal to boost his reelection prospects that are looking dimmer because of the economic and health crisis spawned by the pandemic coupled with the collapse of the price of oil and the likelihood that former Vice President Biden will be the Democratic nominee.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor his part Tha\u00e7i\u2026would like to bring down the Kurti government to protect himself and his corrupt cronies from Kurti\u2019s effort to root out pervasive corruption. Tha\u00e7i\u2019s aim is to then forge a new coalition government composed of the LDK, Kurti\u2019s current coalition partner, and the PDK, the party Tha\u00e7i founded.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrump\u2019s intervention to take over the dialogue has given Tha\u00e7i the opportunity to do so. He is exploiting threats of US punitive action as a bludgeon against Kurti and is trying to rally the LDK and parliamentary opposition to demand the tariffs be lifted immediately. In public statements this week, Tha\u00e7i charged that Kurti\u2019s actions threatened relations with the US and the \u201cvery future of our state,\u201d an irresponsible charge.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the LDK\u2019s leader supports Tha\u00e7i, for now the Assembly is not supporting Tha\u00e7i and the situation is at stalemate.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is worth reminding Kosovo leaders that no comprehensive deal will end Serbia\u2019s hostility to its former province. Until Serbia acknowledges what it has done in Kosovo under Milosevic\u2019s rule their relations will neither be normal nor friendly.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf more importance, we should remind Kosovo\u2019s leaders that the US is and will remain a firm friend and that will not change regardless of what Trump, O\u2019Brien, Grenell, Pompeo and Kushner may threaten. Kosovo should not be compelled to accept a consequential agreement with a hostile Serbia its politicians and public have not seen because of the self-serving motives of one politician.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a public declaration in March 2012, entitled \u201cSave \u2018The Republic\u2019 of Kosova,\u201d the Albanian American Civic League observed that, \u201cThere is an almost total submission of the political class and public to the will of the US State Department and other Western representatives in Prishtina. Also, the belief that the United States will take care of Kosova is often used as an excuse on the part of Albanian politicians and professionals not to work to resolve Kosova\u2019s problems, and this must stop.\u201d<\/p>\n

The false belief by some Albanian politicians and professionals that the Trump administration will take care of Kosova has stopped with the decision by Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Parliamentary Speaker Vjosa Osmani not to bow to the demands of the first authoritarian presidency in US history, but to stay the course on behalf of Kosova.<\/p>\n

Finally, let us not forget the message that a powerful friend of Kosova and now candidate for US President, VP Joe Biden, stated eighteen years ago\u2014in 2002 at the 12th anniversary of the Albanian American Civic League\u2019s work at the Sheraton Hotel in New York City. In his keynote, Biden, then head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said that,<\/p>\n
